Dulcinea/ Aldonza

Posted on Mar 23rd, 2009 by Christophe : Godsilla Christophe
Dear readers,

today I want to tell you the sad story of DonQuixote De La Mancha, The Knight of The Woeful Countenance. Watch this clip to see how all the Suffering began:

Man of La Mancha - Dulcinea (1972)

Ah poor Don Quixote! But also Dulcinea is in trouble now. What shall she to with this old, misguided, grey-bearded, romantic Fool? There is only one thing to do: Watch here how Aldonza explains to our hero that she is not the person he likes to see in her:

Man of La Mancha - Aldonza (1972)
Don Quixote doesn't seem to have listened at all. As everyone knows old men have a hard time a-changing. So now they are both in suffering and despair! What shall become of the two of them? Ah! The Misery! The Misfortune!

Comic Book recommendation: Joan Sfar: The rabbi's cat

Hilarious comic book about an Algerian Rabbi and his daughter who own a cat. This animal one day kills and swallows a parrot (yes this kind of bird who speaks). As a result, the cat is able to speak by herself, and involves the rabbi in discourses concerning the right of cats to kill parrots. In addition, the cat demands to receive the Bar-Mitsva, and to be taught in the Torah teachings.
A delightful read, introducing the reader to a foreign culture and the many wonders of Judaism.
Joan Sfar is, besides Lewis Trondheim and Manu Larcenet, one of the shining new stars in the contemporary french comic scene. Much recommended!

Tarot & Kabbalah Congruence?

Posted on Mar 10th, 2009 by Christophe : Godsilla Christophe
Lately I have been participating in the 'Daily Tarot  Card Meditation Game', posted by theurj in the 'Integral Post-metaphysical Spirituality' Pod. We (th., Tai & me)  have been musing about the meanings of the cards, and so on. We had lots of fun already. :-D

In order to get even deeper into the meaning of the ancient wisdom of the Tarot cards, I researched in the web and found out that they indeed have a connection to the mystic wisdom of the jewish Kabbalah tradition. I'm currently trying to make sense of it all, but I thought I put it out there just in case anybody can contribute something to this rather surprising overlap.

It's been a while since I signed in to Gaia(dot)com. Finally I had some more time to surf around and discover the diverse minds, blogs and opinions here at the local blog-o-sphere. There is so much more to discover!

Some of these blogs inspired me  in a beautiful way, so much so that they pointed me to a teacher of great wisdom which I was not aware of before. Thanks to some of your (Your!) blogs, I was able to discover the amazing work of Thomas Metzinger, a german philosopher, who wrote about the Philosphy of mind, in his book 'Being no one'.

The amazing thing is, he teaches at the Johannes-Gutenberg-University in Mainz, Germany, only 100 miles from where I live, but I had never heard his name before nor was I familiar with the tremendous work he has done until today. What strange detour was necessary to reach this treasure of knowledge! Ah it's so beautiful when an odyssey comes to it's end, don't you think? :-)

The Patroness of good eyesight

Posted on Dec 14th, 2008 by Christophe : Godsilla Christophe
Yesterday was the feastday of Saint Odilia of Alsace, the patroness of good eyesight.

Me and my friend M. did a day trip to the Mount Odile where this catholic saint is buried. It was a cold winter's day and we wandered around the Abbey which is situated up there. We discovered a path with stations of the cross, and watched the mosaics depicting Jesus last hours while walking along in the snow. As the story goes, Odilia was blind at birth and re-gained eyesight when baptized. We saw a sculpture of her, high above our heads, blessing the Rhine valley at her feet. We tried to find the grotto of the virgin, where a well is said to spring forth, its waters containing healing essences. But we couldn't find it, there were no signs, and we got lost. Maybe we were not pure enough lol. So we returned to the Abbey and M. unpacked his digicam and made some recordings, with me standing in front of the Chapel of Tears, and me trying not to look stupid. We looked down in the valley, the outlook was great, the clouds were hanging deep (like the view from a plane) but one could see the mountains on the other side of the valley. A elderly couple asked me to take some pictures of them with their camera, which I did. Slowly we walked back to the parking lot, and rolled downhill to find a restaurant to get something to eat. End of Story.

Powerpuff
Hello you beautiful enlightened Gaia people!

It's me, Christophe, writing my first blog here on my Profile Page. Don't let my Avatar picture shock you, in real life I'm a totally peaceful and cute guy. I swear. Maybe I'm gonna change the picture one day but that depends. On... certain circumstances.

So I've been looking around here already and I'm sure there are some wonderful people to meet and get in contact with, and I'm trying to do exactly that by taking part in discussions or post some thoughts of mine myself in one of these pods are what's-their-name-yet. Expect to see me there next week or so.

I pray to the Trinity of the Power Puff Girls that everything will be alright and we'll all be fine. Amen.
